Lubrication Applications for Six-Axis Industrial Robots

A six-axis industrial robot typically consists of six rotary joints, utilizing the combined motion of multiple axes to execute complex movements within a spatial range. Each of the six axes is responsible for movement in a specific direction, enabling the robot to perform multi-angled operations.

The internal lubrication system of a six-axis industrial robot primarily comprises the following components:

1、Joint bearing lubrication
The internal parts of a robot joint usually contain precision bearings, which are subjected to significant loads during operation. If the lubrication is insufficient, the friction of the bearings will increase, thereby affecting the stability of the equipment operation. Using the appropriate lubricating grease for robot joints can reduce friction and protect the bearing structure.

2、Reducer lubrication
The joints of industrial robots are usually equipped with precise reducers, such as RV reducers or harmonic reducers. The internal gear structure of the reducer is very complex and requires extremely high lubrication standards. High-quality robot reducers' lubricating grease can form a stable oil film on the gear surface, thereby reducing wear.

3、Gear transmission lubrication
Inside the robot, some mechanical components transmit power through gears. The contact pressure between the gears is relatively high, so a stable lubrication environment is necessary. Lubricating grease can reduce gear friction and improve the transmission efficiency.

4、Sliding part lubrication
In the structure of some robots, there are also sliding guides or other moving components, which also require lubrication protection. Through proper lubrication management, it is possible to reduce equipment wear and improve operational stability.

Since industrial robots are precision equipment, they have higher requirements for the performance of lubricating grease. High-quality lubricating grease usually needs to possess the following characteristics:

1、Excellent anti-wear performance. The robot joints are subjected to significant mechanical pressure during operation, so the lubricating grease needs to have excellent anti-wear capabilities.

2、Strong stability. Robot equipment usually needs to operate continuously for a long time, so the grease must maintain stable performance.

3、Antioxidant capacity. Grease may undergo oxidation during long-term use, so it needs to have antioxidant properties.

4、Temperature resistance performance. Under high load conditions, the joint temperature may rise. Therefore, the grease needs to have good temperature resistance properties.

5、Low noise feature. The low noise lubricant can reduce equipment vibration and enhance the stability of robot operation.

Therefore, choosing the appropriate lubricant for industrial robots is of utmost importance. Andana robot series lubricants can completely solve these problems.
